Everyone in the challenge - Please, Please, Please read (this isn't a smack talk thread!)

Hi,

A couple of important administrative items...

The spreadsheet is actually much more complex than it appears.  Please, please do not try to fix it.  Fixes include: sorting, adding columns, adding sheets, adding widgets, etc.  Doing so inevitably messes up the individual and team point totaling.  When everyone is in the sheet (probably on Dec 26th) I'll do a sort of the names to make it easier to find yourself.

To make it easy to know where you can type and where you should not there's a simple rule: only type where it's white.  The yellow and blue generally have some pretty complex formulas to make the sheet work.  If you accidentally start typing in the wrong place, if you just hit the Escape key a time or two it'll back out your change.

There is a Point Calculator page in the worksheet - it has the same rule: only type in the white  Answer the questions and it will calculate your points for the day - remember your point score for the day's run and enter it in the Challenge Data page.

Another point - the team names need to be EXACTLY the same for the totaling mechanism to bring all the points together.  Over the last week or so I've been synchronizing team names for you (adding commas, checking spelling, removing carriage returns).  But John and the other "dont need no stinkin team" folks, you'll need to decide whether you'll spell it out or use the acronym (I'd go with spelling it out!).

A rule issue that last year was a complete mess - bonus points for hours run are given in whole numbers only.   So if you run for 59 minutes, that's a Zero in your hours run.  In the past, fractional numbers for miles run and miles at threshold have been ok, so unless we hear differently from the coaches, I'd go with that (so it's ok to enter 5.6 miles in the Point Calculator).

I'm very excited for this year's challenge!!

Mike
