Bike/Biking near Stonehill College (near Boston)

I'm going to a professional conference being held at this lovely institution for most of a week in July.  Normally I wouldn't worry about it, but for three days prior, I have to go to another conference in Arizona, so I'd rather not stay off a bike for 8 days if I don't have to.

In all honesty, I don't know what the practical realities will be yet, but does anybody know where/how a guy can rent something rideable in this neighborhood?  I'm a little on the small side, but still within the norm (ride a 54 Cervelo), so I would hope any place would be able to size me fine.

Thanks,

William

PS I checked and they don't list a cycling or triathlon varsity or club team...

  • William, you're more than welcome to borrow my road bike for the time you're in the area (54cm Trek 1200). Are you staying down near Stonehill? I work about 35 minutes from there, and would be happy to ride with you if there's a good way to work the schedule.

What week are you coming out this way?
  • Mike - That's very generous of you.

I will be staying on the Stonehill campus. I don't have the exact schedule yet, but I will probably arrive July 10 and depart July 15...not exactly great choices for riding with a working guy! If I can, I will arrange my travel so that I have time for a good long ride on either Saturday after getting home from AZ or Sunday before I leave. We'll see. As things firm up, I'll be in touch for sure.
  • I'm happy to help out if i can. I may be out of town for part of that stretch, so let me know when your plans firm up, and we can figure out details.
  • I suggest to PM Dave Corso and fire up your Garmin so he can get you some rides to do!
  • Many of my long ride routes take me past Stonehill. There are lots of roads down there to ride, especially if you keep heading south into Bridgewater, Taunton, Norton, Middleboro, and over to Plymouth. I'd be glad to hook up and ride as well. I will say that I'm not a planning type of route guy, but more of a "lets see where this road goes as it looks like it might connect with (insert main road here)". I will suggest however that you do not head east into Brockton as it's a main city and not very fun to ride in.
  • Thanks all! Great resources. I need to get a bit more information about my schedule, and then hopefully get to hook up with some of you!
