Difference between 12 and 20 week IM plans?

I thought I had read this previously but I'm having a brain fart and can't find it in the wiki at the moment:

The final 12 weeks of the 20 week plan is the same as the 12 week plan, correct?

I'm in general prep now and scheduled to start the 12 week IM plan on June 6 for IMLOU. But I'm getting a little antsy and want to jump into the 20 week plan next week so I'd essentially get 2 extra weeks, just want to ensure that the final 12 weeks are the same.

  • They're the same.

  • They're the same, and I think that one of the two 'bonus' weeks you're getting by starting earlier is a testing week. So, if you already have good test numbers to work off of, and are debating 2 extra weeks vs. a little down time / transition, I'd give some serious thought to the transition...
  • I remember seeing in the Macro or Micro thread that if you have a base, do the 20 week plan and jump in where needed even if you're 12 weeks out from your race. The exact question was from someone going from Kansas 70.3 to IMWI, which is 12 weeks apart (with recovery after KS). I think it was that the 12 weeks has a few build weeks at the beginning, which you don't need if you're coming off of the HIM plan.
