When to start plan for ;ate-season Ironman?
I completed IM FLorida 70.3 on 5/15 and qualified for Vegas. I have Muncie 70.3 planned for 7/9 and IM Canada planned for 8/28. If I hadn't qualified, I had originally planned to transition back to the remaining 7 weeks of the 12 week advanced HIM plan to plan for qualifying at Muncie. Now IM Canada becomes my "A Race" and I want to give myself a shot to qualify for Kona. Should I transition to the HIM plan and after Muncie transition to the IM plan, or should I start the IM plan now and train through Muncie 70.3?

Mike - My practice has been to start serious IM training for my biggest race 12 weeks out. So after a good rest last week from Florida, I'd say next week or so should be the start of your IM focus training for Canada, right? Munice then becomes simply a Big Day on your schedule, with no expectations for top performance, and recognition that you may need a few days after that to recover. Don't fool around with any more races before Penticton, despie the temptation of all those summer time Olympic distance ones - just follow the EN plan for 12 weeks leading into Canada.
