Vdot RPE heat is on..
I did a 10k with a nice PR, It was a test week so I thought to use that as my Vdot test. I got a bump up of 2 points. So now I have to support that, which I earned, on my legs.
So the race was flat and fast. On the Boardwalk at the Jersey Shore.
So I'm home and calculated the numbers and have been using them for 4 weeks. I live around rolling hills. I hit my numbers at times and sometimes I don't, 60 -40, 40-60 %. Now the heat is on with humidity and fer-git-about -it... the numbers are out the door. So it bothers me as a type A number nerd it just aint happening.
Instead of figuring this out myself I'm asking for ya'll input.
I say heck with the numbers and use a RPE. Another choice dummy down my numbers in my Vdot ( man that sounds lame ).
That is my thought train but now I'm not in this myself no more with a Team behind me , any thoughts ?

I am like you. Love numbers too much. I have an excel file version of the VDOT table that includes 5K pace correction based on temp. So I check the weather, note the temp+humidity, arrive at heat index, reference the table and off I go. But I always end up chasing the actual VDOT pace and keep burning up like an idiot. Been repeating that for quite a few times. I am not bright for sure. This summer, I promise, RPE only or else......
