Tour de Suisse !!!! Yes, I must get a life. But not now. image

Come one, come all. Watch Spartacus get sick fast in the tt. See if Gilbert is still on the crazy hot sauce. Let's see if the emaciated Shleck bras are rounding into shape. And the well rested GOD OF THUNDER will be there too. Along with Tom "I gotta dance" Boonen, who has never been busted for performance enhancing drugs. Just the fun ones.

  • I'm in.  Still paying with my selections, but I've got an initial draft.  The link you posted went to the Dolphine (or another race that's already in progress or done).  So try this one folks:

  • Thanks, guys. My boys from Robabank will be out seeking revenge on the Roads of Romandie.

    This one on tv?

    Yes- on Versus

  • I'm enjoying my lead right now in our little league, but I don't think it will last. Oscar is pulling out of the race to have surgery :-(
  • Fred is getting spanked but good. image
  • @ Nemo - I dunno; you've got my gang covered pretty well with Fabioso, FSchleck and my new favoriate rider since last year's TOC, Peter Sagan. He reminds me of Lance at the same age. He's just gotta decide what he wants to be, and build his body apropriately. I don't know if S. KRUIJSWIJK (HOW DID HE EVER LEARN TO SPELL HIS NAME AS A KID???) and Sylvain Chanvel can pull it off for me.

And how do you use these last two races to prediict TDF performance??? Will Andy Schleck ever wake up?

And yes, it does feel good to see Fred get his commuppance.

  • Fred Velo is just using this little backwater race as a tune up. Not concerned with wins here.
See you in July. Bonsoir, mon ami. image
  • Andy appears to be pulling a Fred Velo at the moment!
  • OK- I have to say I'm quite pleased with myself for the moment. My little squad is currently placed 169 out of 1651. That's almost top 10%, I don't think I've ever managed to do that well. I don't know how long this will last, but it's nice to be up there for a little while!
  • FINALLY! One of my riders wins a stage. Only glitch is that its Philip Gilbert and he's riding in the Ster ZLM Toer, not the Suisse. I guess I should check the Fred Velo Team e mails more often. I'm sure he notified me of his change of plans.....

I told the French press today that Fred Velo is withdrawing from the Tour de Suisse. When asked why I said shame and humiliation. Robabank and Say Cheese destroyed our will to compete.
  • HA! I bet Fred Velo was just using this as pratice for TDF anyway. They will be back!

Say Cheese is doing surprisingly well. Currently ranked 27th out of 209 US Teams!! I'm pretty tickled with myself :-)
  • Well, I dropped to 29th out of all the US Teams in the final stage, but I still pretty good about those results. That final TT stage was pretty exciting. I just wish Frank and Andy could Time Trial! Those boyz need serious help.

The next few weeks should be pretty fun watching the teams announce which riders are going to France.
  • Oh- and Al, I dunno about you, but I'm a little bummed Peter Sagan has announced he won't be going to TDF. Probably a good choice for him, but it would have been fun to have him in the mix.
  • I've been in an internet and cell=phone free zone for the past four days - the Lost Coast in Southern Mendocino County, Norther CA, which somehow got trapped in a time warp - they are stuck in the 70's.

@ Nemo - good on ya for picking Levi, who appears to be peaking at a good time - he seemed quite strong on the climbs, I guess Radio Shack as a little problem on its hands between him and Horner.

Sagan is only 21, and he's raced a lot this year, so he could blow himself up but good if he tried another Grand Tour now. Looking at his physique, I think he'll become either a sprinter or (more likely) a Classics specialist. His arms are kinda large, not pipe cleaners like the Schlecks. He looks like another Hushovd, or Armstrong before he got cancer.

  • Was just looking at the TDF roster choices. Not that Fred Velo needs to help you guys but Horner looks like a steal for 6 points.
  • Compared to, say, Ryder Hesjedal @ 12.

With no prologue and a 2nd day TTT, picking the early Maillot Jaune is a lot harder than just going with Cancellara this year!

I'll start a league and a new thread, considering I'm just siting here in CDA getting anxious.

  • Best of luck, Al. Hope you have a great day.
  • I'm still trying to get my head around the rules for the TTT. How many men on the team ride the TTT and if they drop somone, what time applies to the rider that dropped off? I have some work to do!

Al- relax and enjoy the race. Let this be a great come-back!
  • Here's how I understand the TTT:
All 9 riders start. A minimum of 5 must finish "together" (Wheel on wheel, side by side, whatever, no gaps). Those dropped must finish within a certain % of the winning team's time, or be out of the race (just like any stage). Those dropped are credited with their actual time, not the team's time. Since the TTT is the second, not the first stage, and there's no prologue, figuring a Maillot Jaune coming out of the TTT is tricky. In part because the first stage is like a classic, with an uphill sprint finish, and the winds and climbs along the way provide the possibility to get dropped, or get gapped at the end. This means not all team members may have the same time going into the TTT. If the winning team's members did all have the same time from the first stage, and their TTT time would qualify for MJ, then the first rider across the line would wear it. At least that's how I'm figuring it, which is not really any help.
  • That helps a lot. Now I gotta figure someone will be running a "how long before they drop Andy" pole on Stage 2! Maybe they will just let him sit in the whole time. On the flip side Contador doesn't seem to have much help from his team on that day. He's probably the best TTer they have. Radio Shak should rock it with Chris and Levi hanging in/leading the team the whole way. This stage just brings a whole other element to the race. I love it!
  • So is someone going to set up an EN mini-league for the Tour on Velogames?

I've got my roster and it's strong! Tho this is my first time doing a fantasy team for the Tour...
  • Al's said he'd do it, if he ever stops doing IM's every weekend and focus on velogames.....image
