  • sorry, keep forgetting details:

xlab aero mount attaches to the x lab torpeedo.  the xlab gorilla cage holds the bottle snugly, so it won't eject.  if you subscribe for free at trizone.com, they give 15% off.  they are in los alamitos, california for local people and you avoid shipping.

  • Thanks again all. Since I was sick all day, when I went stir-crazy I cleaned about 5 lbs worth of grease off my cassette (ewwww...) and set up the bottle. I ended up putting it further back, almost over the stem, and mounting the joule up front. Joule still seems a little ackward and I didn't get to ride to check it out but should work.

Thanks for all the help and pretty pics ( GH I know where those were taken!!!)

  • I havent migrated to the single bottle mounted between the aero bars yet...still using a Profile Design Aerodrink and another bottle on the downtube. I dont race with anything behind the seat, but do mount two bottles there during very long rides...like RR this Saturday.

I tried to find a way to mount the Joule around the Aero Bottle, but really no luck. I just found this by X-Labs and might give it a try.

  • I used to use a bottle on the down tube and a bottle between the bars. My plan was to use perform on the course + gels + water. In my last few rides of the year I've noticed I race much better on EFS in the heat, so my new plan is to run on course water + concentrated EFS. So, based on that, I'll likely either run an xlab rear cage or get a second concentrated bottle from bike SN.

  •  I have the speedfil and am not really happy with it.  First of all, and least important, is that people make fun of it  but my problem is that when I'm doing other things, Habitat 500 for example, the water is in a big orange water cooler on the picnic table on the other side of the area where we park the bikes and it's kinda difficult to pull that bottle out and refill it.  That being said, for this particular event, I provide a normal bottle with each rest stop for the week and utilize that to move water from the jug to my speedfil.  I had the same issue on Horribly HIlly Hundreds.  I have kind of solved it by getting a camelback for non racing events but I think I'm going to try some of the suggestions here.  I don't like the rear mounted bottles either.  I have them on my old bike but don't really like it.  Not an answer from anyone but just thinking out loud....
