not to step on anothers thread PT issue sooo

I have a PT wired coded HR strap set up.

Lately I have went out on rides and my wattage shows way to low , or high, so then I would press mode to scroll up to watts. I then press select and hold the button down until the display shows - 0 release and then my wattage sometimes reads correctly.

If the wattage looks off I do this again until it feels right, based on my experience.

Has anyone had this problem / am I missing doing something ?

Pain in the A##, especially in a race.

Thx D

  • Does the unit display zero watts when you're coasting? If not, you need to calibrate it. The older PT units required you to manually recalibrate. You do this while you're coasting. I don't recall the exactly process but you're basically telling the PT head unit "I'm coasting so you should be displaying zero watts right now. Fix yourself!"

Maybe someone else can give you more specific help...
  • Your both correct, David just didn't indicate he was coasting while going through his process. David, as Rich says you have to be coasting along, not pedaling when you do this. Don't remember if the select button is the one on the right, I think it is, but its the button on the right you hold down to recalibrate while the pointer is set to the watts line. Make Sense? I used to do the process pre race while my bike was hanging in the transition rack.
  • Thx guys,

I'm coasting not pedaling PT does read 0 , press the right button until - 0 displays and motor on , guess I'm doing the right thing.

    Thx, D

You need to go into Test Mode and see if your torque is drifting.

    Do this:

    1. Press and hold both buttons untill you get to the menu

    2. Press the right button several times until the "T" is flashing

    3. Press the left button until you get to the torque display

        -- It will show 3-lines.

-- The middle line is what the computer thinks the offset is

-- The bottom line is what the hub torque is.

-- The top line is the difference

-- The bottom line will change

-- The middle line should change only with the wheel spinning or when you do a manual zero

This is where you can see if the hub is drifting or not. Normal reading should be around 512 +-10.

If it's drifting then you need to call Saris and schedule to send it back.

    Thanks, Chris
