IMCDA Taper Question - WWYD?
In Week 19 of IMCDA prep (taper actually). Have to travel for work Thurs-Fri this week. Can do scheduled Thurs 70 min Run but Fri workout of Swim/Run not really possible (no pool and I hate treadmills).
Take Friday off and sleep in? I assume there's little/no penalty at this point for skipping one day? Would you move the Friday Swim to Sunday or just bag it? WWYD?

Thanks for responding. Pretty sure you meant Run on the treadmill Friday and then Swim on Sunday. Not sure on that one as it cuts a scheduled "Day Off" out of the plan. There's no "feeling the need" to taper on my part - meaning I'm not so shelled that I am dying for a day off. But I also know that a day off is a solid mental break and allows more of that training load to absorb.
I'm going to take the running shoes on the trip and see how I feel about things. Maybe do a shortened swim after the Bike/Run that's scheduled on Saturday. Just for feel.

I'd be on the treadmill and probably skip the swim. I don't mind the treadmill but if there was any way to get a run outside I'd be doing that. Given your hatred of the treadmill just get in the MS and cut the run a litte bit shorter.
You mention that you are feeling pretty good so you could squeeze in the swim on sunday if I did that it would be as early as possible so that the get the remained of the day to relax or do other life stuff that needs to get done.

I hope the time off works to make us stronger! It's a theory, anyway.
While distance is not an issue at this stage of prep, doing some hard interva; type work is important, so if you're only running, get in some strides of 800-1600 intervals.
