10 Weeks to Go!
Hola IMC Peeps!
Just ten weeks to go! Holy moly this is getting REAL!
I had a good week of training. Friday I did a 2.4 mile open water swim race in lieu of the planned workout. I was reeeallly pleased with my time of 1:08 as my previous PB was 1:05 at IMC last year. Considering my (lack of) Outseason swimming and that this was my first open water swim of the year it was a relief to see I hadn’t lost much.
The hardest workout for me was the long bike in the Pain Cave (pouring ass rain here) yesterday. Last week was also in the Pain Cave and I nailed it so I was expecting good things. But, for whatever reason that fourth hour in Z2 was just really mentally difficult. I found myself sitting up, bargaining with myself, changing the channel, taking another bite of Power Bar - whatever I could do to just.keep.going and still came in at just the very bottom of Z2. Oh well, win some, lose some.
How was your week? Anybody doing any camps or RRs in Penticton? I’ll be doing my second RR there on Monday, August 8th. Also, time to start dialing in the nutrition and hydration. I’ve done about fifteen hydration tests over the past six weeks but with the temperature struggling to get out of the 60’s I think I’ve stopped learning anything that will apply to a very hot day so I’m going to wait for it to (hopefully) warm up to do some more. Thoughts?
Oh and if by chance you haven’t seen it yet, check out the introductions thread kicked off by Jim! http://members.endurancenation.us/G...fault.aspx
Have a great week!!!
Theme song of the week: Survivor by Destiny’s Child (I dare you not to sing along… )
I'm a survivor (what),
I'm not gonna give up (what),
I'm not gon' stop (what),
I'm gonna work harder (what),
I'm a survivor (what),
I'm gonna make it (what),
I will survive (what),
Keep on survivin' (what),
I'm a survivor (what),
I'm not gonna give up (what),
I'm not gon' stop (what),
I'm gonna work harder (what),
I'm a survivor (what),
I'm gonna make it (what),
I will survive (what),
Keep on survivin' (what).

@Jenn- I do 1-2 OWS swims per week at Lake Tapps if you are interested in joining. My wife give us a Kayak escort so it is relatively safe. We swim a 1 mile loop in a protected cove. Let me know if you are interested. Message me on my personal page since I don't check this page regularely.
Oh and with respect to the cool temperatures - yesterday was the first day I rode outside with just shorts and a bike jersey - no leg warmers, arm warmers or vest! It has been cold, wet and miserable here in Ontario too! But the Okanagan should be nice.
I've been working on dialing in some bike setup things, like bottle placement. Trying to do things just a slight bit different this year and we'll see how it goes......
Can't wait to get out there !
