Any blister experts out there?

God bless her.  She's tried everything.  Types of shoes/special socks/lubes/moleskin stuff/etc.  Sheri run/walks consisitently.  Pretty good clip, too.  But, she does this while suffering through some nasty blisters on her feet.  It's been a few YEARS now.  We've sought help at running specialty shops and doc's offices, and, of course, online stuff.  Her blisters can range from between her toes to the balls of her feet to, most commonly, anywhere around the circumference of her foot where you can see the clear line/difference between the two types of skin we have for the top of the foot and the sole of the foot.  But, never is she without the blisters.

Everything I've read feeds us the same answers that we've already tried.  Very frustrating.  If you have any ideas, throw them this way.

If you know of any 'world reknowned' running blister experts that I can contact and ask a few questions, I'd take that, too.

Thanks.

  • Sounds interesting. Has she ever gone to a dermatologist? I am thinking she has a skin susceptibility if she gets them everywhere on the foot. What about between the thighs when running? Or other places? Is it just the feet?

Alternatively, does she sweat a lot at the feet or elsewhere? Sweaty palms all the time? An open teva like shoe could help air out the area, if so.

The other approach is to walk around barefoot a lot to toughen up the skin, unless that hurts too much. If so, then see above skin sensitivity fragility.

Ok, my coffee break is over...hope this helps some.

  • She sees a derm for checkups (skin ca history), but hasn't brought this issue up. I'll suggest this to her.

Just the feet, really looks like that subtle line that differentiates the thicker sole of the foot and the 'regular' thickness for the rest of the foot. Will get them anywhere on this circumference.

She sweats a good bit, but have never noticed the soaking/sloshing socks & shoes.

I've suggested we go do some barefoot stuff. There's a local soccer field and football field nearby, might be useful.

    thanks for the time!

  • Any running shoes out there that are truly seamless on the inside?
