Heat regulating clothing

I'm interested in getting a new trisuit/top.  Has anyone tried some of the new heat regulating suits?  Like the 2xu Ice-x fabric or the pearl izumi pro stuff?  Just curious if it actually works.

  • You need that stuff in Vicksburg!
  • You are absolutely correct. I think last night at 9 it was still around 88. Today is a high of 98 with a heat index of 108. Not bad huh? On a side note, how are you familiar with Vicksburg?
  • Branan I have no experience with heat regulating tri suits but I have a Zoot Ultrafil Ice cap that is supposed to lower temps up to 11 degrees. ( http://www.runningwarehouse.com/descpage-ZUIC.html ). I live in the heat and humidity of South Flordia and went to school in Starkville so know your heat pain. The hat seems to work to me. It seems to work better when it is wet so do not know if it is better than a regular hat that is wet but the evaporation rate seems to be much faster as during both the HIM's Ive worn it for I had to keep dumping water on it every 1/2 miles or so as it would dry off quickly. Not sure if that helps you out or not.
  • I used the Craft long sleeve running shirt for 2011 Florida 70.3 and it was amazing! It has a big ice pocket in the back that stretches across your shoulder blades. every aid station I filled it up with ice. It kept me cool and happy on the run. It was in the mid-hi 80's that day.
  • I have been happy using arm coolers onthe bike and the run. Used Craft and DeSoto brands happy with both. The Craft long sleeve shirt is also good - but I give it up to show the EN colors.
  • WhAt about as far as tri tops, shorts or tri suits?
  • I use a Craft cooling top and arm coolers. Both work very well.
  • @ Jeff - did you swim in your Craft top? Otherwise, how long did it take you to get it on after the swim?

    Branan,

Lived in Bimingham for almost 4 years and traveled throughout MS, LA, AR, AL etc.  Then moved to Houston for 4 years.  I hate the winters up here but not dealing with the Summer heat and humidity is nice.
