Profile Aquacell- Recommendations?

Anyone use this water bottle? It is the dual chamber aero bottle. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated before I buy.

  • It is the size of a ocean going vessel!!! I ordered and sent it back a few years ago. Just too big.
  • Use it. Love it. Depending on conditions and chosen nutrition, holds enough for an entire HIM.
  •  Have it, like it, used it at IMFL, never used it in training.  Holds a ton of fluid

  • I've used the aqua-cell in both half and full IM races and yes it does hold quite a bit of fluid. If you're like me and you drink your nutrition (Infinit) and you don't drink anything else except water from the aid stations, then it's great. The nicest part, IMO, is that you can keep your nutrition drink separate from straight water, and you only have to refill the main compartment once during a full IM (or not at all in a half as Terry said). Your bike will handle just slightly different if you're running a 'full tank' so make sure you use it once or twice in training if you're on a technical course.

If you fill up at each aid on whatever is being handed out then it's not the best option...you may be better off going with the smaller version.

You might want to check out Speedfil, I've contemplated that system a time or two, but it costs WAY more than the PD.
  • Ok, while we're on the subject of theses aero bottles. I only keep water in my aerodrink because anything else in there tends to creates a sticky mess when it splashes all over the place. I keep my sports drink in a regular water bottle mounted on my down tube. Am I alone in this?
  • Your not alone Cary! That's pretty much the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure- we should add that to your other acronym thread) around here.
  • The newer aqua-cells have a different lid so splashing is minimized. Note, I did say minimized, not eliminated. It is light-years better than the older sponge/mesh thing.
  • My AeroDrink has this foam thing on top that allows you to refill it quickly, and theoretically allows for nominal spillage ... but it still goes all over the place.
