Tri Shorts?

Looking for some tri short recommendations.  I'm looking for race shorts, with a very minimal pad.  My current ones are starting to look a bit haggard and I probably should start looking for some new ones!

  • Voler Tri Shorts have been my go to raceday favorite for a while now. Thin pad, fit well, and the back is higher than the front so you get coverage over the tramp stamp :-)

  • I wrote a review of tri shorts on my blog a few months ago: http://btothes.wordpress.com/2011/03/03/the-tri-shorts-review-or-my-butt-belongs-to-emilio-desoto/

    Hope the info helps!

  • Purfect! Just the recommendations I was looking for!
  • I'll throw this in. I moved from the DeSoto Forza, which I really liked and wore for an IM and several HIM's, to the Zoot UltraRX Compression Tri Shorts. Love them! The chamois is similar to any on a tri short but the compression is like that of their recovery compression wear. It's far superior to any compression on any tri shorts I've used. Keeps the legs fresh, especially on the run.

  • x2 what Nemo said! Love my Voler shorts!
  • Matt- A couple photos I saw of the pad in the Zoot tri shorts looked pretty significant...did you change before the run?
  • I've got the Zoot Compression Tri shorts too. The pad is very minimal (smaller than it looks in the pic). I can use those shorts for up to HIM, but they compress a little too much in the crotch for anything longer and I end up doing a little dancing on the seat to keep from too much friction trouble. It's probably just the way they fit on me- I'm sorta between sizes and the next size up doesn't offer any compression at all.

Good to know since I tend to be between sizes too.  I like my Zoot compression stuff, but I can't wear them as long as most as they are a little tight because the next size up is just too big!

  • Nice to know I'm not alone :-)
  • I love CW-X ventilator tri shorts, I've used them for HIM and longer and absolutely love them, more comfortable than my bike shorts.
