The Bike...what's your average "volume"?
I've been looking back at my files over the past few months, and analyzing some of my numbers. I know we're not about junk miles here in EN, but I feel like mine may be lower than normal. What's an average month or year for you - time/miles/TSS. Any way you want to define it.

Not all rides are created equal. Yesterday I "only" rode 80 miles in about 4:10 ride time. However, that ride time included 45' of solid tempo group with a group, another solid 45' of 95-98% up a 9 mile climb, etc. Final IF was .85, TSS was 299. As a frame of reference, I raced IMCDA in 2008 and put up 285 TSS in that ride with a 5:25 bike split. So yesterday I put in 14 more TSS points in an Ironman in 1:15 less ride time.
Another data point: the first ride of my mountains camp last week I rode a 106 mile loop, 5:51 ride time, with 6500ft gain, IF .69 and 278 TSS. Ride was at 6500-8300ft altitude and average temp of 95 degrees.
Two very, very different rides and if you were to only look at the volume you'd think the longer ride was "better."
In my experience, most IM athletes are probably riding at an IF of about .68-.7 for their 5-5:30 Saturday ride. The TSS for that ride is in fact a good bit less than what they'll see a race day vs my ride yesterday. IOW, these are very cheesy rides.
Andrew,
Good to see that you got this sorted out. If you do have the time check the wiki out for a big bike week or this thread on why the coaches have been doing massive training hours.

Just remember the training here at EN will get you to the start line prepared the race execution will get to to the finish line.
