OS-style bike hack in IM plan: replace 5x30/30 with 2.5'?

 So I'm coming up to some weeks where the IM plan calls for some 30/30's, eg. 3 x (5 x 30/30) with 3' easy btw sets.  In the OS these workouts were replaced with 2.5' Z5 intervals (120% FTP).  I responded well to this in the OS and am thinking about doing the same now in the IM plan.  Anybody tried it?  Thoughts?  More difficult to recover from?
