Marathon training again.... After Door County HIM. Scorching!
Coach P-
Yep, It's marathon training time again. I really enjoyed working with you over at MarathonNation last year but suspect I could just keep the training here. I need just a little advice on starting up again- Here's my status:
HIM 7/17-
Swim- PR,
Bike only 10 min off PR but T was 93F(per my Joule) with 68% humidity for a Heat Index of 112 when I started the run.
I'd taken 2 Scaps/hr on the bike plus 975 cals of Infinit plus 48 oz water per hour. I was planning on a slow pace to survive gracefully and managed to pass 4 in my AG during the run. Walked 30sec per mile and despite stopping sweating at 10.5 miles had my 2nd best run off bike in my 7 HIMs over the last 7 years. I guess old dogs can learn eventually.
I'm hoping to not crash at 19 miles again(like Chicago x 2) and it looks like I've finally got a handle on running in the heat. This year I'm running Milwaukee Lakefront on 10/2 and therefore have 10.7 weeks to prep.
I got up and ran 3 miles easy this a.m. and felt fine after. Any recommendations on how to adjust the Marathon hack?
