Bottle Size at WTC Bike Aid Stations

I've moved my LYC to the front of my aerobars and my horizonal bottle cage further back toward my stem and love that I can just glance down and see my watts without having to bend my neck like a pretzel.  This works great with my Infinit water bottle but I was just wondering how long the bottles are at the bike aid stations cuz if they're too long they might extend over the LYC and make it impossible to read.  Anyone know how long they are?

Thanks,

Tyler

  • it varies a little from race to race. For the most part, if you can get a standard 24oz specialized style water bottle in then the bottles on course will fit. However, sometimes the bottles are too thin for the cage to grip them really well, and many times the volunteers tear the top off and therefore a ton spills out when you put it in the cage.
  • I'd also suggest trying a number of different brands of water bottles with the squirt top...they vary a little in size, but it will give you a general impression of what the size will probably be like....
  • Lesson learned yesterday at IMLP: I use a torpedo front mount, and had to shout out and seek out those volunteers offering water bottles with the BLUE TOPS! (otherwise, they dribble right out of squirt valve and splash in face adding insult to injury) image

That is my experience. Of the 3 bottles I got at the last race, two lasted until I tossed them at the following aid station, and the other one launched.
