VI and hill rides/races
So TrainingPeaks added NP, TSS, IF, VI to the data displayed and I'll probably start using that more than Poweragent which I have been. Noticed that a flat, windy ride I held a pretty good VI of 1.03 but for hilly stuff I'm frequently 1.13-1.18. Probably okay for training as I noticed interval workouts have a spread too but one of those was Hawaii 70.3. That VI and my poor nutrition probably contributed to my death march this year along with being undertrained.
So how do you smooth it out? I have compact cranks and my race wheels have a 12-28 cassette but I know its got to be mostly riding style.
Thanks in advance for comments.
