First HIM in 3 weeks.... Too late to switch sports drinks?

Hello!  As a first-time HIM-er, I am starting to freak about, well, everything, including nutrition. I have been using Accelerade & GU w/o issues, but my longest workout has been maybe 5 hours (RR) and I expect the race to take me all of the alloted 8.5hrs.

Do I switch to Infinit now to try to get more calories in for the race, or is it cutting it too close?  (I do have a "permanent" on-board fuel source that I'd love to get rid of but don't want to rely on that for race day!)

  • Kim: If what you are using has worked for 5 hours, I'd stick with it. If you were having problems, then I'd change. If not, don't fix what is working.
  • Why are you thinking of switching - do they have infinit on the course? You could probably get away with it. Accelerade has an awful lot of protein - so if your stomach can take that, it can probably take anything. But it would be risky this close to the race. If you decide to try infinit, I'd call and talk to someone - stick with a pre mixed formula and beg them to get it to you in time for your ride on sunday.
