@Daniela - sounds like you are on the bubble as they say around here. When you are doing things for 12 seconds, something like a speedsuit start to make sense. Like you said take your race clothes and your current speedsuit to the pool and do some test. My assumption is that the WTC legal speedsuit would probably be about half way between the swim suit and Velocity 0.02... therefore if it saves you 4 seconds per hundred, then I would estimate 2 sec per hundrd on the WTC legal suit.
Please share your findings with us though as I don't have one at all right now to test myself.
As wonderful as this test sounds, it's hard for me to believe that it's valid...no way to do it double-blind and too hard not to be psychologically affected. If you really want to find out the gain, you have to be careful about measuring HR and that sort of thing.

100% agree with you William, however I still like to do my own little unscientific test from time to time out of curriousity. Plus I find they give me confidence in the choices I make and many times I bet that confidence is worth as much time on race day as the potential gains from the product.
FWIW, after multiple races and tons of training miles in both, I've noticed that I run faster in a ~7.2 oz shoe that I absolutely love and feels perfect on my foot, then a 6.3 oz shoe that feels just ok. There is nothing at all wrong with the lighter shoe, it just doesn't feel as good to me. Science says that .9oz more i'm lifting 180+ times a minute would slow me down, but I just feel and perform better in the "heavier" shoes for most distances. My un-scientific testing gives me confidence that I'm in the right shoe and I will be running IMWI in the 7.2 oz shoe.
I agree with Matt. What feels good, makes me feel good, which I believe makes me perform better.
My plan is to wear my swim suit under my tri suit under my speedsuit. Given a set of 20x100, I can usually swim them pretty consistently within a second through all 20. I'll probably do 5x100 in each, quickly stripping a layer off between the first and second set of 100's. A group of us are riding the IMWI course on Friday, so flipping days. Next swim workout for me is Saturday. Hope to do this then. I'll report back my findings and you can do what you want with them.
Test complete. Results coming soon. Just have to write up the somewhat thorough report.
Brief synopsis... Swam IM pace, or at least what I think will be. I’ll know more after MOWS next weekend. Did good, long WU 4x(5x100) as Swimsuit, XTERRA USAT (not WTC legal) Speed Suit, EN uniform, Swim Suit First and last set of swimsuit were all 1:33/100 meters.
Would you consider that the advatage decline as your swimming improves...ie. if you are a 1:55-2:15/100 the advantages are greater than someone such as yourself who is already fairly efficient and streamlining....Just a though or question.
@Joseph - Not sure. If my SO had a speedsuit I'd have him try it out. I'll see if I can talk him into doing the EN uni vs swim shorts. It probably wouldn't be as reliable of results since he gets tired more quickly, so the times through the sets would drop because of that.

Any guesses on Speed Suit and EN uniform times?
Cool. I love tests - nothing iike data to drive decisions. OK, I'll play: Speedsuit 1:31, EN uni 1:35
Speedsuit 1:29, EN 1:36.

I created a new forum topic to no longer hijack this thread. Full report here...
