Garmin 305 Data Fields

 I am trying to determine what data fields to set for my bike and run on one 305 that I'll use for both.  I normally have 4 fields set (time, distance, speed, hr).  However, I always tend to focus on distance and speed which throws off my pacing goals.  

I am thinking about having my main cycling screen with HR, speed and time, focusing on HR measure.  Maybe adding HR-avg as well.  

Any non-power people out  there have any input on how you set yours up for the bike and run?

  • Matt - I used the 305 for training and for IM Louisville recently....I am also HR not power...for bike I use 4 fields  Time, Distance, Cadence, HR...I focus on HR & Cadence. For the run...I use 3 fields- Time, Distance, Pace..do not use HR for running ...it worked like a charm...fyi - I did not use multisport mode @ Louisville...plenty of time to switch over...also; I didn't start/turn on the watch unitl I was out of the water and in T1...the battery lasted the entire race (12hrs 19min) but I was getting the low battery indicator from about mile 21-22 into the finish.
