For those of you who don't know, I'm going to be in AZ for a big training week 10/21 - 10/31.  It will culminate with the final race rehearsal.  If anyone wants to join me for a few workouts, let me know so we can coordinate.

Looking forward to seeing everyone come November.

    Just for your information that there is the SOMA Half Ironman race in Tempe on Oct 23, 2011.  The swim is in Tempe Town Lake and the bike I understand stays in town with lots of turns.  The run course is similar to IM AZ.  The Red Rock Company is the race organizers and tout their race as a good warmup for the IM AZ.

    Just talked with some local So Cal folks who have done SOMA triathlon and liked it a lot. I pulled the trigger and registered. I will drive in on Friday night late Oct 23 and will stay at the Best Western on Scottsdale Road. They are pet friendly in case I bring the wife and dogs (really our kids-3 Yellow Labs). Looking to ride the Beeline Highway portion of the course on Saturday morning and then do all the race admin on Saturday afternoon. I will train right through the race. Plan to drive home right after the race. Maybe we could meet up on Saturday Oct 24 for a ride/run?

    I'm doing SOMA as well, Jim. Was planning a long ride on Saturday, on course. We will coordinate.

    @ Steve - got us a post-race hangout already. Monday morning, there is this awesome breakfast place I know. It would be great for another meet-up. To my knowledge, there has never been a Monday morning meetup. We could make this a first. I'll keep it in mind.

    @Terry- cool, you are on top of things! The monday morning hangout was very cool the morning after  in Couer d'Alene. We all got together for breakfast and licked our wounds.

    I have done SOMA several times and it is one of my favorites. I thought the wisdom was that is too close to the actual race? I am going to be there the weekend before and planning to do a semi RR probably Sat the 15th (ride from McDowell to Bush highway x2 and then a lap to Shea, then run from McDowell. There is a gas station/convence store at the intersection of McDowell and Beeline. Any takers?
