Who's racing HIM/IM in Europe in 2012?

I've seen some chatter about people considering races in Europe and as I sit down to start thinking about 2012, I find myself wondering how many ENers already know they're going to be over here next year. My decisions for next year are wide open and already being in Europe the travel piece isn't a big deal for me. So I figure seeing where other people will be is a good place to start!

So who's already in and what races are you doing?

Also, if anyone has any Europe race suggestions I'd love to hear those too.

  • A lot of them are sold out already, but Ironman Lanzarote is quite nice, if you like wind and hills etc. Challenge Roth and Barcelona are also good.

I'm thinking about doing Challenge Copenhagen or the rumoured Ironman Sweden - and maybe HIM Italy, Mallorca and Germany (haven't done any of those, though)
  • Hi Virginia - replying a bit late, but I have entered the HIMI Mallorca (which seems to still be open). First time doing any long distance course, so should be interesting! Hope you had a good time at IMFL!
  • I did IM Regensburg this year and it was an awesome destination race. Weren't you in Panama City early this year? That makes you probably AF or Navy...which tells me that even if you are in Germany you are on the other side of the country. And if you are in England, Italy or Spain, it's worth the trip.
  • Well it's only taken me 20 years to log back in here. Who knew grad school could take so much of my time. Thanks for the responses. I still haven't figured out my 2012 schedule do to the craziness of life lately. However, I have been looking into HIM Mallorca and Challenge Vichy. Some of the others sound sweet as well. Guess I better get on it and decide. At least the Ironman events let you transfer your registration now if need be.

@ JoJo: I'm seriously considering Mallorca so I might see you there! We were looking at going there on holiday anyways so this would be perfect. Where abouts in England are you?

@ Paul: I was in PC but now in England. I'll have to look at making that trip, haven't gotten to see much of the continent yet.
  • Second on Regensburg.   They claim to be second oldest city in Germany.     Still tickled about the run.   Four loops through cobbled streets and over the Danube River several times.   And the bike would be fun dry.     Att he highest point in the bike,  band  with old men in Lederhosen.

  • Small chance I may do Salzburg 70.3 in Aug as I've got friends I could stay with.
