Boston Marathon 2012

Who's in for Boston '12?  I signed up this week so will know if I made it in next week.  I'm 4'15" ahead of my BQ so feel pretty good about making the cut.

  • I'm in . Signed up friday and got my confirmation early monday.
  • I'm entered...was 8:58 under my standard, waiting for confirmation!
  • My husband and I are in. Steve was 31 minutes ahead of the standard!! He is 54 and ran a 3:04. Yikes. I was 23 minutes ahead. I needed a 3:50 and ran a 3:27. We feel very fortunate to have been able to sign up first. Neither of us plan to train specifically for it. We have Oceanside 70.3 ,16 days before and plan to train hard all winter for it. Boston will be a chance for both of us to have a do over from 2011. We trained really hard for Boston and Steve got injured 2 weeks out and ran on a bum calf. 3:04 gimpy. Can you imagine?image. I was a stress case for him and my race was horrid. This time we want to go back and just enjoy the atmosphere with no expectations. Take photos along the way. Just want to ENJOY!!
  • Congrats to all of you for getting in this year!! I was going to reg again this year but decided to do Oceanside 70.3 Mar 31st instead. Now, I see Carrie is doing both Oceanside AND Boston 16 days later...don't I feel like a slacker!! image
  • Wow - didn't expect that.... I waited till Thursday afternoon (9/23) to sign up. Just got confirmation that I'm in.

The one thing I plan to do different from last year is WEAR EAR PLUGS!! I found the noise - especially the girls of Welsley, just too much for this backwoods hermit....
  • Just got my confirmation. In with a BQ - 4:14! Will be my first Boston!
  • @Steve - It's a good thing you are not a rock star.  I've never been to Boston so I've just heard stories but the girls of Welsley is one of the iconic things of Boston.  Having said that my wife does not understand how I can run without an ipod or drive 3 hours without the radio turned on.

Enjoy Boston I've got to get there someday.

  • Looks like anyone with a 1:14 better than your BQ time got in. Nice to see a bunch of the same people from last year Carrie , Patrick , Steve. Welcome Jeremy. Oh and just so you know I am gonna run DOWN some long hills in training LOL.
  •  Yes I got in too-just got my confirmation.  Had to wait until last Monday to register with a 4:12 better than qualifying time.  Look forward to seeing all in Boston-my first trip.

  • Again, congrats to all of you who got in! Now I'm sort of wishing I had registered...it would have been fun to go with a lot of people I know, plus all of TeamEN!!

For those of you who are going for the first time...ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!! It is an amazing experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be proud of your accomplishment of getting in...
  • Made it in by 2 seconds!
  • It's gonna be a blast...we'll have to fire up the group in January to hack out a good plan!
  •  I'm in as well.  At first, I did not think I would care too much.  Once I found out I got into Boston 2012, I was on cloud nine.  I am very excited.

As far as 2012 goes, I am doing the Goofy Challenge (13.1 on Saturday and 26.2 on Sunday) at Disney World in January, the Knoxville Marathon (where I qualified) in March, and then the Boston Marathon in April.  Fun, fun, fun.

Any experienced folks have suggestions as far as getting hotels for Boston (where to stay?  how to find a hotel when all are sold out?  etc.....)???

    Thanks and CONGRATULATIONS everyone.

  • I used the Boston Marathon site and booked my room through marathon tours at the Westin- Copley plaza at the finish line. Going full hog this time. Last time blessed to stay with friends near Hopkinton at their home. Those friends have since moved away. This time going for the whole " spend a fortune" experience, take buses to the start, stagger back to hotel and be in the shower within minutes of finishing.

  • I booked a room at Marriot Courtyard in MIlford. Stayed there last year too. Was able to get a free shuttle from the hotel to the high school - very nice, saved me a lot of hassle and walking. It's only 4.5 miles from the start.
  •  I'm in.  Can't wait.  Will be my 3rd.

  • We have an epic group! Fantastic!
  • I'm in, this will be my second. Can't wait.
