Got a cold coming on

I'm catching a bug , fighting it off with rest and taking it easy. This week is RR#2 for me and 3 weeks out from my A race Beach to Battleship iron distance.

Today was my long run which I skipped and slept in. So my own personal triage is Friday still will be my RR swim, Saturday the 6hr / 112 mile ride followed by a hour run and Sunday is a scheduled off day. I want to do that missed Thursday long run on Sunday, since it is a day off, a day off I'm enjoying today to just flip this to Sunday.

So in my head I'm juggling things around a tad and not making up for lost work.

 

So Team , what is your opinion ?

  • I've got a similar issue - RR#1 coming up, and today is rain/snow and 40F on my long run day, to say nothing of Sunday being a much better projected day for riding than Sat. So I will probably swim today and Saturday, Long Run on Friday, and RR on Sunday. Will that work for you, especially if you bag the swim today and rest/fluids to fight the cold?

  • Sounds like a plan to me Al. I understand around here you just move on to the next
    workout but with an off day thrown into the mix it would be a perfect opportunity to make
    up that long run. I feel at this stage of the game its too important to skip.

  • As you shuffle, keep in mind that rest is paramount...you must take care of yourself with sleep and hydration so your body can fuel workouts AND get better simultaneously.
