Who has finished 12 branded Ironman Races and not been to Kona?
Out of curiousity, I would like to see if there are many EN members that have finished 12 branded Ironman races, but never raced in Kona.
The reason I ask is based on a interview with the new WTC CEO, he said they will be starting a program to invite folks that have done more than 12 full ironman races to race in Kona. Im at 8 Irondistance race, but only 4 WTC races, So I guess Im 4
Matt: I think this is it exactly. They've crunched the numbers and it's not so much about rewarding the people who are at/are very close to twelve, as it is putting a carrot out there to keep the 3-4x'ers coming back for a few more years...until they bag it by about #8 or 9.
IMHO, brilliant marketing move on part of WTC. Leveraging an incredibly strong brand.
