Who has finished 12 branded Ironman Races and not been to Kona?

Out of curiousity, I would like to see if there are many EN members that have finished 12 branded Ironman races, but never raced in Kona.

The reason I ask is based on a interview with the new WTC CEO, he said they will be starting a program to invite folks that have done more than 12 full ironman races to race in Kona.  More information and discussion is here: http://members.endurancenation.us/Training/TrainingForums/tabid/101/aft/7259/afnp/92324/Default.aspx

  • I am at 8 right now and am signed up for #9 at IMLP in 2012.
  • @Matt, that's 12 years of racing for most folks....I personally am in my 11th year and at number 16...my guess is they picked that number after mucho number crunching! image
  • Just bumping this.... so far it looks like there is no one in EN that is alreay at the 12 races and has not been to kona. Like P, I think they definitely did some number crunching and 12 is the magic number that not many people have actually done (who have not been to Kona) but is still something that people will think is possible and will continue to do WTC races to try to get to 12.

    Matt: I think this is it exactly. They've crunched the numbers and it's not so much about rewarding the people who are at/are very close to twelve, as it is putting a carrot out there to keep the 3-4x'ers coming back for a few more years...until they bag it by about #8 or 9.

    IMHO, brilliant marketing move on part of WTC. Leveraging an incredibly strong brand.
