The "coolest" aero helmet...

I have had my Spuik Kronos for a few years now and while I quite like it, it's not the best helmet for racing in the heat due to no air vents and also it's black (I wear their M/L as my head circumference is just under 58cm).

Have read this thread http://members.endurancenation.us/T...fault.aspx  and sounds like quite a few people went with the Laser Tardiz, how has that been for you? Has it been as cool as expected, any issues in lost performance (know that is not easy but what are your thoughts).

Any other recommendations from peeps here, am looking for a cooler helmet for those really hot and humid races around here while still gaining the aero helmet advantage of course.

  • Love my Laser tardiz. I have black and don't find it too hot. Love the vents and water port.
  • Kevin - Instead of asking what is the best vented aero helmet, I've been asking the opposite question: what is the most aero road helmet. After much online searching it appears to be the Specialized Prevail. I'm thinking of using that at St Croix next year...far more ventilated than an aero helmet, much lighter, and somewhat aero. It's a matter of trade-offs.
  • I love, love, love my Rudy Project Wingspan! It's more comfortable than my road helmet and not any hotter at all than my road helmet. I'd like to wear it all the time, but would look like a complete tool training in it in group rides...
  • Thanks all for the feedback - will have a look around what I can get here as well. @Paul, always appreciate your "paradigm busting" views, will have a look at the Prevail as well, may be a better option for hotter days!
  • Not to get off topic, but I've had a Specialized Prevail since they came out and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's so light I forget it's on and the ventilation is awesome. Plus the red/white model matches my EN kit pretty well...
