Fitness Logging programs?

wondering what people use to keep track of everything, not just what WKO+ can track, but other fitness activites, diet, etc.

i am just finally exploring the limitations of training peaks and wondering if it is worth the upgrade, can't seem to figure out, how you upload your data from WKO to TP, seems like there is a DL from TP to WKO, but not the other direction?

  • Whatever you do, keep it in one program. Some folks use WKO exclusively, others use Golden Cheetah, I personally don't log workouts as much as track my key tests and follow that progress. If you search Golden Cheetah or "fitness log" on the site you might find some good former threads.
  • I use TrainingPeaks. It is intuitive and easy to use, and is web-based so I can access it in multiple ways. I am a pretty hardcore user of the nutrition tracking functionality and frankly it is the integration of nutrition and workouts into the dashboard that really makes it a great solution for me. There is an iPhone app that I use with it (although the app could use some work). I suspect the functionality of TP will only get better over time and will eventually render WKO totally unnecessary although for the time being I still upload to WKO because some of the more sophisticated power analysis still cannot be accomplished in TP.
  • I keep telling myself that I'm going to log all my workouts and really keep track of training. I have several different log in and passwords for TP cause I log a few workouts and then quit and forget my logins so I start over again. I use WKO and see if I hit my numbers, add some comments and call it good.
  • TrainingPeaks is a great tool, but I find myself overwhelmed with all the features and gizmos (uncharacteristic for a geek like me, because I tend to like having metrics for everything). Instead, I use Strands, which is not that popular I think, but it's simple and gets the job done.

  • I have used RunnerWorld site, Training Peaks, and currently Daily Mile (dailymile.com)......Training Peaks is good but as noted has alot of "stuff" which I never used...DailyMile is simple, straightforward...but may be too bare bones for some.

  • I use my own personal spreadsheet with a tab for each training/racing year. I can see current and annual totals and adjust to how I want to see the data. I also have a tab that projects my master schedule of events and overall training approach out for a year, then adjust the weekly plan by plugging in the key EN workouts that fit my schedule.
  • I use Training Peaks. It has evolved to the point that it has all of the power analysis tools built in so I don't both with WKO anymore. It also works equally well on a Mac.
  • I use TP and I occasionally use a calorie King site to lose a few pounds on the nutritional side as TP is not as straight forward as I would likle on that side. Just be aware that TP has a PMC problem (performance managment chart) as it does not adjust your tested levels as often as WKO.
