Bontrager race x lite vs 404 on the front

 Basically, will it benefit me at IM AZ to use  404 on the front vs the bontrager race x lite I have now?  My current FTP is 249 and from what i understand the aero wheels are extremely beneficial for the fast peeps.  Will someone that rides at my pace benefit at IM AZ by using an aero wheel only on the front?

Hi Paul — sorry but I can't answer your comparison question.
However, from what I hear in the Haus, being aero helps the slower peeps more than the fast ones as the slower peeps are out on the course longer.
So, you still need your question answered regardless of your FTP.

Paul, use the 404. A deeper dish carbon wheel is more aero and the front is actually more important than the rear for this. Many people in da Haus race with an aero front wheel with a wheelbuilder disc cover on their rear. This is true regardless of your FTP or expected speed. Wind resistance goes up with the square of speed, so it's really important for fast peeps or on flats or downhills. But slower peeps are out on the course longer, so they get the added aero advantage "longer". This is a gross simplification of course, but the bottom line is that it's a really easy decision. Use the 404.
