Oct OS - Week 4: Run

Hope everyone is hanging tight! This week marks the end of the first of 5 months in the OS and halfway between tests #1 and #2. Post how you are doing here and get some MoJo if you need that extra motivation to get out the door!

  • Well what a great run this am. Week 5 of advanced. 4 one mile repeats at 6:40-6:50 pace. Ended with 8.25 miles in 60 min.
  • Week 4 of Intermediate supposed to be 2 X 1 mi at Z4. Actually did 2 mi at Z5+ courtesy of my twice a year pretend I'm in the real Army PFT. Did another couple miles easy after. Should get a bit of VDOT bump with next test based on this morning.
    Nice running Carl. Healing up nicely it looks like.

  •  @Carl - Your an animal man!!  Seem to be crushing every workout.

     

    Glad to hear I'm not the only one slugging along this last week.  Carl warned me after smoking my numbers week one that I might want to cool off some.  Can't tell if I'm a little under the weather, or hard workouts catching up but I have been absolutely grinding for about 4 days.  Could get main sets on bike, but not much else right now.  Hopefully run goes better tonight.

  • Although I'm in a taper week, I seem to be way tired and lethargic. I ran 3.2 @ Z1 with about 6 strides and I just felt unplugged! Hope a few easy days will pull me back in! image

  • 21 miles completed. Very happy to be done with that. Next weekend is a 12, followed by a 20, then 12, 8, and race time.
  • I'm in Advanced outseason week 4. Yesterday I did my 2 X 1.5 miles at threshold/Z4 and the rest was supposed to be at Z3/HM pace as much as possible. Nailed the Z4 - actually a little faster by 12"/mile because I was outside in the cool air and not on my treadmill like usual. My treadmill gets hot but when the warm weather comes around I'm very acclimatized. My treadmill feels a little harder - I'm sure it's mental.

    Anyhow, my hamstring got tight after the Z4 and I'm paranoid. (I injured it in May and had no season.) So I ran easy the rest of the way on the flat trails. Too early to do something stupid. Plenty of time for that later, lol.

    2X12' @ Z4 on the bike tonight. Loving this training and no swimming. image
