Quad pain???

I'm having pain in my right quadricep.  It's about 2/3 of the way up from my knee, just left of the middle of my leg.  The pain is like a sharp burning.  The area is only about 1 inch long.  I get the pain when I've been sitting for a while and get up.  Doesn't bother me when I work out - went on a 2 hr ride on Saturday with 4,000 feet of climbing - no problem.  Any ideas?

  • No responses yet here. Sorry Bob. I was waiting to see what others thoughts were. Any changes in the symptoms? Does that burning pain linger after getting up from the chair? Hard to tell if it is a local injury( in the quad) or pain being referred from somewhere else( spine. hip, nerve, vascular).
  • Carrie & Craig - thanks for the responses - I've been bad about looking at the forums lately. It's better now, but not all gone. I think it is most likely a back issue. I have a history of heneated disk, and that muscle goes numb sometimes when it flares up. This is new, but I'm sure compression on a nerve could manifest itself in several ways. I'll keep using my roller - I'm sure that's something that's good for me whether I have symptoms or not.
