IM NYC - EN Staffed Aid Station? Anybody want to join this idea?

IM - NYC Volunteering question: wondering if we have enough local ENers and friends that would volunteer to take over an aid station in this event next August. if interested, post here and PM me. i am thinking we could do something creative like i saw the phoenix tri club do last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1EzekTKgIY we could certainly come up with our own EN theme and spread the mojo... anyone in?

note that the date is August 12 - i know there are a couple of peeps doing IM MT a week later, me included, but this could be a lot of fun...

  • Sounds like a great idea and a great team target project for next season!

  • I live 15 blocks from the George Washington Bridge and was planning on volunteering, with the caveat that a family vacation might be occuring around that time.

If I am around, I'm def in.

Edit: should prob change my location from Princeton. moved recently

  • Sounds like a pretty cool idea...just need to see how many aren't actually racing!!
  • My brother lives in Hoboken, so I have a place to stay and could be there. Could be fun. Not quite sure of next summer's vacation plans yet, but it might work.
  • I for one would love the mojo of an EN aid station... I'll be racing IMNYC next yr, but might have a few "non-EN" peeps that would get in the spirit and fill in some slots if you come up short.
  •  I am racing as well

  • I'm not racing, but I could make it up to Gotham for a EN aid station!

Are you thinking something on the bike or the run? IMHO, the bike would be better so that we can watch EN members and other cross the finish line.

  • Scott - not sure if you are still tracking this, but I could be interested....let me know if any chance this could happen...
  • Yes, my schedule change could mean I am on site...
  • Seems like a good excuse to spend a weekend in NY. I'm in. Do we need to officially register as volunteers for this?
  • In! ( if we are not on vacation that weekend) - Jim D, see you in Hoboken
  • i think the answer here is that if there are peeps interested, we pick a bike or run(any thoughts on which? i am thinking run) aid station to all volunteer at, and yes we need to officially register and show up... we can then work it from there. if peeps are interested, PLEASE PM me... if anyone has friends that would sign up in advanced for an aid station, i suggest we get them rallied too...

  • hey all,

I am in for this.  I live on 161st and Riverside in NYC, and was thinking about waking up early and biking across the river to one of the aid stations for a morning volunteering.  then biking back and then watching the run finish in riverside park.

Bike Aid Station #1: Exit 3 on the Palisades Parkway (Mile 11 and 64) Exit 3 on the Palisades Parkway (Southbound) 06:00 AM - 11:30 AM 63

was thinking the above could be a good morning volunteer...thoughts?
