Ok who is doing the CORE diet plan?

What are your thoughts?  Been thinking of trying it out but can't find much on it.  How does it differ from any other diet plan?

  • I took a chance and signed up in a hope to help me clean up my eating habits, and possibly drop a few pounds while doing it. I haven't spent a ton of time going through the material that is provided with the EN plan, but have to say that so far it is pretty limited. There are a few decent webinars and that is about it. There is no activity in the forums. At this point I am honestly not sure how this site is going to help me in any way. So unless something changes in the next few months I will be dropping my membership and spending my $50 a month some place else.

Another thought I just had is that maybe Coach P can let us know how he used the plan to help his diet. There are a few other EN members that signed up which I bet would be interested in hearing a "success story".

  • I signed up also hoping to get an edge going into next year by getting to down what I hope is optimal race weight. So far like Peter I haven't read alot on the website but thus far am underwhelmed. I don't know if I haven't checked it out enough yet or whether what we get for the 50$ isn't worth it. I need to spend a little more time and maybe Coach P can add some insight. I thought we were supposed to get an email explaining more about the program following the into webinar but haven't seen it yet.
  • I actually did 3 months with them before my race. The plan is very good and was helpful. They did weekly check-ins to see how things were going. They created a menu that would fit your training schedule, which was a huge help for me. I was so under-nourshised for my training. Then they created a race week menu for me and that helped with the fueling and was able to test it before the race. I remember seeing Patrick post about eating well for training and that has been the biggest difference for me. I would like to see more weekly scheduled menus for variety with training programs. Overall, I was very pleased with the results. One last thing, I did not lose the weight like I wanted, but I did not gain weight either. I did notice my training performance was much better and recovery was better
  • @Steve, it seems like your experience was very different then Pete and Jeff's. Did you just do the basic $50/month plan or did you also do one or more of the additional services, such as the consultation, meal planning, ect? I'm seriously considering Core Diet but want to make sure it's worth the expense.
  • I truly believe that we are smart enough and are able to do research like this on our own. Most towns have a great dietician and money well spent for one visit. An extra 50 dollars a month I just don't see any benefit for it (for me). I could and do spend that on food, supplies, etc. Just my 2 cents.
  •  @Scott, I paid full price of $200 a month, so $50 is a deal that is awesome. Just double check what they are offering and see if it fits what you need.  I had the full treatment from them and it worked well.  I liked them because of their experience that they bring to the table.  My local dietician really had no idea and just lacked experience in triathlons and endurance racing.  These guys are the real deal with tons of experience.  I felt better and stronger after this year's race than I did last year.  My times from the last two races were close and I even had an IT band issue to deal with this year, so I am looking forward to a better performance at Lake Placid.

  • If you want to use a local Dietitian, you can find a sports RD at www.scandpg.org. I strongly encourage people to interview the RD to ensure that they "click" and that the RD understands your sport.

I haven't looked at the CORE diet information, so can't comment on it.
  • I did the Core Diet Mission Plan (same plan as is being offered now through EN), through a hook-up with a local group run by a QT2 coach. I think their ideas are sound, but like others have mentioned, I was very underwhelmed by the material and did not feel it represented a good value in the end. I did not renew once my minimum subscription ran out. Of the group who did the plan with me, I don't think anyone else continued either. I think the other posters who are noting positive experiences are using higher price point plans that involve individual meal plans and follow-up, etc. Those services are not included on the Mission Plan at the $50 price point.

So in short, really nothing bad to say about the info or the plan with the exception that I don't think there is anything sufficiently new to justify the price.
  • Thanks for the feedback folks. I see two things here:

1 - you are spoiled by EN. image
2 - they are running this $50 option (with EN and other groups) but since they are also doing 1:1 stuff they aren't overdelivering to the space.

That said, YMMV. I have seen success but I am a big reader / self implementer / self administrator.

And to be honest I haven't seen any POSTS from EN folks in their forums...not one. If you want it to work, you gotta do some lifting. IF you are in there and reading and asking questions and not getting the support promised, then I will get on the phone ASAP. As others have noted, this is not meant to be a full custom solution...that is obviously extra.
  • Duely noted. My plan for this was to read and try to follow the general guidelines and see if I wanted to upgrade to the the full service plan. I started listening to the webinars and downloaded the grocery list. I will see where that leads over the next few weeks.

  • @Patrick. I agree with you that we are spoiled here at EN. The self implementation is key for it to work. I had a great experience with
