WRENCH help needed...

Cervelo S2, internal routing, shimano DA...

AAAAHHHHHHHHH..... i'm putting this in the forum, but PLEASE, SOMEBODY, ANYBODY, tell me how to thread this frickin' shifting cable through the downtube and out the fookin' hole on the bottom. 10' to set the shifting side up, 1.5 hours trying to thread the damn thing out the hole down by the bottom bracket. Aaaahhhhhhh... (crying, in fetal position, drooling....)

Thanks,

Chris

  • got it! all good now! no harm done.

if anyone ever 'search'es for this in the future, USE A HOMEMADE MINI HOOK TOOL (THINK METAL CLOTHESHANGER).
  • Different bike and certainly more disassembled than yours likely is. Might be a helpfull idea.

  • When I had this problem, I taped up all the other holes in the frame, used a thin thread and a vacuum on the other hole. The vacuum pulled the thread through the frame and out the hole. Used the thread to pull the cable through the frame.
  • David, that's brilliant!
  • @ Jamison - the trick he did with the spare spoke (making it a mini hook tool) is what I used the metal clothes hanger for. Luckily, the exit hole at the bottom bracket under the s2 is a little bit larger than those top tube holes and the clothes hanger fit without any trauma. thanks for the video.

@David - gonna have to try that trick just because!

    An outside the frame thinker.

  • @ David - massively brilliant. Like Chris, I once tried to thread new internal cables through an old frame that did not have the guides that new frames do. Gave up after 30 mins and took it to the shop.
