Team!

With Turkey-time nearly upon us and fruitcake not that far behind, we need to get motivated again. Cue the drumroll....it's the:

2011 Marathon Relay "Gobble Gobble" Challenge

That's right, time to get your suffering on. This year we are looking for teams of 4 or 2 folks looking to rip it up for annual bragging rights. The 4 person team will run 6.55 miles each and the 2 person ULTRA team runs 13.1 miles each.  Start linking up and brainstorming names...be sure to register via the official sign up form (here) and then begin your smack talking below.

Extra points for pics and video, of course.

FAQ:

1 - Contest runs over the Thanksgiving Weekend (Thursday - Sunday)

2 - You can run on treadmill or outside.

3 - You can run your portion over multiple days (ex: 6.55 miles over 3 days)

Let the games begin!!!

  • I'm in! Looking for a couple of NOVA / DC area folks to team up with. Let the smack talk commence!
  • Um, this is not Thanksgiving for us Canucks. R we included in the challenge? If so I have your holiday down for 22 November, so that means next weekend. I am doing a marathon this weekend, but might be up for a 4 person team challenge next weekend. Do they have to be Team EN Members and I assume that we need to run as hard and as fast as we can?
  • Columbia, SC is up for your challenge! Can I use my 8K Turkey Trot and 5K Trot 3 days later as 8.1 miles and vary workload among team members or is it firm as 6.55 or 13.1 per person?

  • Just to be clear:  The team withthe fastest marathon time . . . wins!

@Brenda - We would prefer TeamEN folks.  Rally some ladies and put the hurt on the men!

@Jeff - Haven't talked to P about it but I would assume that would be OK.  Kill it, brotha!

    Rock on, everyone!

  • Yes, you can have unorthodox distances OR just use the fastest miles you ran within those two races if you can't create a Team!!!
  • Okay....c'mon East Coast peeps....who's in with me?

    OR, Better Yet...

How about a "Broken But Mended" group...Me, Tom Glynn, Trent, and Al Truscott's best 6 miles from AZ (Better not be his first 6!!!).

  • I'm in for the "Broken but mended" group. I'm healed and running faster than eva before. So are the other in it???
  • I can do a leg.   anyone need a member?

  • I have lots of runs to do =-)  Any Chicago peeps with me? There can be brunch.

  • I'm in...I'm not fast if anyone needs a team member I'd be game. Let me know.
  • Hey I'm all over this!...I do have Philly Marathon this weekend...but certainly up for bounce back turkey weekend Marathon Challenge...I need a team or partner...Coach P?

  • What the hell. Sure. I have Philly Marathon this weekend but I think I'll be good to go. So now what? lol
  • ps - I personally favor the name "Team KNOW REGRETS" image
  • Johnathan- Monika- If we can get Coach P  we could have an East Coast Team!...

  • Pretty sure Scott Dinhofer wants in as this was his idea for me! image he's pretty preoccupied w IMAZ now but I'll ask him afterwards.
  • Ok, Ruth Payne and I, a Chicago / Northern Virginia based relay team are looking for two more participants to fill out a squad. All resumes accepted, priority given to those with recent Olympic qualifying scores... (j/k). Seriously, we need two more to flush out a team. A positive attitude is much more important than speed. Hit me up if interested. And to the rest of you, stand by. We're going to smoke you!
  • Carly and I are in for a family/ Maine-Mass. team.
  • Jonathan - Did you get a team together yet? I am in if you need someone. I can run laps around Walmart while waiting for black Friday sales!! Plus need an excuse to aoid the my out-laws coming in town.
  • I got this crazy idea to run a full marathon on my DM on Saturday... Not likely to have a winning time but I expect to be in contention for the "Wow, that was dumb" award.

Will be traveling to Vt and back Thrus and Fri to help out with some winter prep for sister-inlaw and niece. Other than Tuesday, is likely to be a run only week.

    Gobble gobble you turkeys!
  • @Steve, I'm totally positive that won't be a decision you'll regret Saturday evening image
  • Well...seeking redemption from a Philly Crash & Burn...still looking for a team?  Roy? Johnathon?

  • Running a turkey trot on Thursday and group 6 mile on Sat. Happy to play if someone still needs a teammate - I'm in South Jersey.
  • Ok, so its already day 1, but Ruth Payne, Carl Noftsger and I are still looking for a team mate for this. Any and all takers welcome. Hit me up if interested and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
  • Done!

Yesterday got 16 miles on the DM in 2:13:50 @ 8:22
    ... here http://connect.garmin.com/activity/131216737

This morning finished with 10.2 on the DM in 1:23:31 @ 8:11
    ... here http://connect.garmin.com/activity/131267628

    For a total of 3:37:21 @ 8:18

May not be the fastest in the Haus but got to be the longest DreadMill run this weekend!

    Gobble gobble you turkeys!!
  • OMG you are a f'in MONSTER! Good job man!
  • I ran an 18:09 5k and then logged another 3.45 miles at 7:15 pace for a combined time of 43:10.
  • Smokin' fast run Coach but where is the rest of your team?
  • So I think I'm on the Coach P Comeback Kids team, and am using the LAST 6.5 miles of my IM marathon in AZ: 1:02:57 (sorry, it's as fast as I could go!)

  • I got a combined 13.1 miles in 2:01 certainly not as fast as I could go. With holidays and family commitments I was just glad to get that much running done. Will have to see what my other teammate got done. (I'm fairly certain we got beat by the one-man team).
  • My total was 1:44 for 13.1, making Carly and my total time 3:45. Not the fastest, but not bad!
