Should Finis SwimSense Performance Monitor be on X-Mas List?

Does anyone have experience with the Finish SwimSense Peformance Monitor?  Worth the $200?

  • I've had the Swimsense since last summer and I absolutely love mine.  I lose count of laps in the pool and hate trying to remember where I am in long sets (like the race rehearsals).  I have found it to be incredibly accurate and the cool thing with the newest version of the software is that you can just start it at the beginning of the workout and then stop when you are done.  It automatically knows when you are on a rest interval.  Worth the $200 in my opinion.  If you need a new GPS then it might be worth waiting for the Garmin 910XT which has the same swimming functionality.

  • See dcrainmaker.com. he uses and reviews the swimsense.
  • X2 what Dusty said and David's rec. I also have the SwimSense. I would wait to see if the 910XT is as promising as it sounds. If so that is what I would get. I wonder if anyone got a deal on a 910XT?
  • I'm waiting for the 910xt for the sole reason that you'll be able to upload it to Garmin Connect. Kind of a stupid reason, I know. Esp since I have a perfectly good 405 for running and Edge 500 for biking.
  • I have the swimsense and love it. If in the market for the 910 XT then hold off for it.
  •  I get frustrated with mine.   Doesn't always read the correct distance, and doesn't always sync very easily.

The garmin 910 seems like it make my life a little bit easier to capture swim data in addition to my run data and then load it into WKO and garmin connect.   Although you can capture the data with swimsense, and then create manual workouts in WKO, the 910 swim data would reduce the manual work on the proograms.
