Bringing Back the Carrot and the Stick...
Folks, the OS Groups are killing it...and it's great to see folks pushing themselves to new limits. Those of you from the old guard, however, remember when we really kept one another on point and being our bests. And if I am going to get anywhere even close to my 2012 goals I will need some super duper support. So I am proposing we bring back The Carrot and The Stick.
The Carrot is the reward for hitting your goals, whatever those goals might be.
The Stick is the punishment for not hitting your goals, whatever those goals might be.
Here is what I am thinking...every month, folks weigh in with their "one goal" for that month. Could be weight, could be FTP, could be consistency, etc. You put that in your signature, etc., and focus on it. At the end of the month we have a reconciliation where you see how you did....meet your goal? get The Carrot...miss your goal? time for The Stick.
If you think this would be a fun exercise, emphasis on FUN, let me know what you think about the above as well as to whether or not we set a team-wide carrot/stick or folks can do it on their own...

Excellent idea, I'm in need of a few thwack's wih the stick I believe. Apparently I'm one of those stubborn donkey's. Now I will have to decide on my one goal for December. So many choices but there can be only one.
I think it would be good to have it team wide, just start up a thread at the end of each month for those that want to play.

Sounds good Coach! I need something. I am in mild depression after eating an entire cherry cheesecake on Thanksgiving. Yep, ate the whole damn thing between Thursday afternoon and Friday's breakfast. Even my 14 year old son was grossed out and that is saying alot! I kept rationalizing it as "no worries I have 360 days left till IMAZ 2012". uggghhhh, Beat me now with the stick!!
For the record, a month has proven to be a great length of time for accountability like this in my business life as well. Long enough for creating change without being too long to try to remain highly focused.

@Rich, it was just one cheesecake right? No worries mate! If it were two cheesecakes, that "might" be excessive. EN is the home of the ice cream TT challenge!
I like it. Especially since my first goal is to not do anything for the month aft IMAZ. Let the hip heal. It is a lot harder than it seems!

@Lynne, Go to My account tab and choose profile, and select My settings at the top right hand part of the page
Then on the list at the left, choose forum preferences. There is a box labeled Signature - you can type what you want to appear at the bottom of your posts there.
