Have it from Todd at TTBikeFit that he's not really impressed with the P5. Basically anything P3 and above, with the proper fit and good wheels, etc, is pretty much the same speed....
Well we haven't seen the wind tunnel data but they claim it's faster than all the other superbikes by like 30" per 40k. Means nothing to us normal folks of course. But looking at all the superbikes, I'd have to say it is one pretty bike. Very clean lines. Worth the money? Hell no. At least to me. I just wish I knew it would be such a disaster pricewise. I would have either already done it or would have been laying some serious groundwork to get in on the Cervelo share the road program. Now I'm scrambling to try to convince a buddy he needs a road bike so I can get either an S5 or R2 for $1,000 off.
After doing 3 Ironman's and passing people on $10k bikes, getting passed by dudes on circa 1989 Schwinn 10 speeds with tassles on them (tassles is a slight exageration), and then seeing Tom Glynn get Kona on an aluminum, basic tri bike . . . . I am convinced that the bike has little to do with being "fast." It ain't fast if the rider ain't.
@ J Stark - I would love to race on a frame like that. One of the old zipp frames, or the cheetah. Train my butt off, build this engine, then earn the right to go non-mainstream / ol' skool and kick some arse.
When I upgrade from this entry level p2sl that I ride, I may take a step back in time if I can find one. Or pick up a Blue Triad SL.
@ John S, and Chris, I picked up a new softride a couple of years ago (forgotten in the back of a small bike store)...I also have a specialized transition tri bike, but I am hooked on my softride for IM. Both bikes seem to get me to the same place in the same amount of time, but the comfort of the softride and running off it is amazing. AND as i get stronger and a become better cyclist, my softride seems to go faster...and now that that guy won IMLP on a freak bike like mine, I will not feel so self conscious on my throwback

@Rich-- ; How can that thing cost $10k...? I didn't even see the words "Carbon Fiber" mentioned one time on that site...
@Tucker: seat height is 39 inches. Ground clearance is 15". W/kg is ~50 horsepower for 255lb .
@John: trust me, there are LOTS of opportunities to add carbon fiber bits and lots of other $$$$ stuff to any motorcycle

I think TJ tollakson's rig proves that.
Sorry, don't mean to burst a bubble. Just sayin'
