VI stands for Variable Index; it is the percentage of difference between the average power and the normalized power. If the normalized power were the same as the average power, then the VI would be 1.0, or 100 percent or average power. If the normalized power were say 229w, and the average power were 157w, the VI would be 1.45 (in other words, the normalized power is 145% of the average power). This metric allows you to quantify how much the power output jumped around over the course of the given time period in question; the more constant the power, the closer the VI will be to 1.0. PW:HR is power to heart rate Aerobic Decoupling, and PA:HR is pace to heart rate Aerobic Decoupling. For more on Aerobic Decoupling. See article below!!
