  • I have been out of liftin any weights or doing much of anything core-work-wise for a couple of years now. I feel, both mentally and physically, as though some amount of core-stability stuff might be of benefit to me. I am thinking planks, bridges, rotational types of movements would be good and could benefit my OS (now) and IM (several weeks away) training, at least until the last 8-10 weeks of Race Prep when the volume gets ramped way up.

Anyone have a routine they would like to share, or some exercises?

  • I think there were routines in the wiki
  • Thought so too...but I sure can't find them.
  • For my Karate Fitness class, I generally pick from among the following for Core strength and stability:

    Planks

    Side Planks

    Moving Planks

Spider Crosses (done in Plank position, touching opposite hand to foot)

    Russian Twists

    Strict Situps

    Happy Valleys

    Bicycle Situps

    Good Mornings

    Situps with Medball twist

    Kettlebell swings

Kettlebell Getups (also called Turkish Getups)

    Kettlebell Sumo Deadlift High Pull

    Kettlebell Waiter's Carry

    Kettlebell Farmer's Carry

    Medball Woodchoppers

    Medball Wall Balls

    Medball Woodchopper Lunges

    Medball Twist Pass

    Medball Cleans

  • go to the wiki table of contents, scroll about 1/3rd of the way down, and under the "Core Strength" bullet, you'll see a few things to select from. All good.
  • Ah, found it under '2011 Maintenance Workouts'

    Thanks!
