Summer Training Camp(s) in Aspen

As I have the past couple of years, I'm putting out a general invite to all ENer's to join me for a weekend, a week, whatever, when I go to my home in Aspen (Snowmass) to train "at altitude" for my late season race. The first session would be July 6-22. This is a good time for IMs Mont Tremblant, NY, Canada, Louisville, and even Wisconsin. I'll be using this time to kick off my IM prep phase. My second session will be from Sep 4-23. This is a good time for building into IM FL, AZ, and Coz, and also for anyone doing Hawaii (which is what I'll be prepping for during that time.)

Last Sep/Oct we had 9 campers, most doing IM AZ, all ages from 30s to 60s, evenly split between the genders, some for a long weekend, some for a whole week. We also had a spread of speed in the group, and it seemed to work out just fine, as all the rides are out and backs. It's mostly a bike focus, but a pool is a mile from my house, and I usually run 3-4 days a week for those who want to go Epic.

If you have questions, leave them here. I do this primarily so I can have some compnay when I'm up there training. I am not in it to make money, but to help cover expenses/utilities, it's $10/night, plus a similar sum into a group food kitty.

  • This sounds amazing, and I followed with great envy last year. Al, you generosity in opening your home to the team.

will try for September as a Kona/Arizona camp. gotta shake some vacation days loose first, though.
  • Definitely will attend, Al....maybe both dates. Thanks for the amazing hospitality.
