Bike Parts thru Wheelbuilder and EN

Rich Sawiris of Wheelbuilder has been very impressed with EN. He is basically a bike shop, ie, able to order nearly anything you want and turn it around to you nearly as quickly as an LBS or online retailer, so he would like to provide this serive exclusively to Endurance Nation.

If you're in the market to buy a high end or high price bike part, email rich@endurancenation.us with what you want and I'll get a price for you. For example:

  • Handle, aerobars, $$$ stems
  • Pedal systems
  • Entire groupos, or components thereof
  • Stuff like that.

Never pay retail!

Disclosure: Rich (coach) earns a percentage on all sales through Wheelbuilder

  • A shout-out for Rich at Wheelbuilder: although I live on the East Coast, I've had him and his crew build up five wheels for me. Each one has proved bomb proof and any issues were promptly and honorably dealt with. A stellar example of building business through superb service.
  • I hit a pothole the Sunday before IMLou last yr and cracked my Powertap Zipp 404. I overnighted it (from NJ to CA) to Rich at wheelbuilder and he built a new Firecrest 404 around my SL+ hub and built a matching front and shipped them to Louisville where they were waiting for me when I arrived at my hotel on Friday before the race! I couldn't imagine better service out of anybody in the world!
  • Wow. Those are awesome stories! I am a little spoiled. Wheelbuilder is two blocks from my office in Arcadia. He is just over the border in El Monte. The first time I went there I got in my car, put the address in the GPS and then sat there laughing when I realized I could walk.....
  •  Wow!!   I like hearing this kind of stuff!  The LBS that I've been dealing with won't be getting much of my hard earned $$$ once I get this last order in.  I'll be getting much of my future supplies at places like Wheelbuilder!  The LBS has a very good bike fitter, but there are others that can do the job.  They only have 2 mechanics that I trust with my bikes, or at least the higher end stuff, so I've taken to learning much of the necessities of maintenance.  One of the things that I know I'll be getting when I'm ready is a new component set for my road bike.

  • Thanks for the good words. Rich likes working with EN and me because it's easy for him: you guys talk to me, I talk to him, money changes hands, he orders and ships to you. No inventory or receivables for him and you get a deal, win-win.

  • Rich,
newbie here - interested in a power meter which can network with my garmin 310XT. I see units which can mount on pedals, cranks and wheel hubs, your advice on the best way to go. Would like to incorporate onto my road bike but would ultimately also like to have it on my BMC TM2 for TRI's. Would like to not have to change out wheel sets and wondering about the new pedal power meters but in the end I'll og with your recomendations. Thanks Joe
  • @Joe, email Coach Rich at rich@endurancenation.us about power meters. Stick with either the Quarq (crank-based) or the PowerTap (wheel-based), those other systems aren't tested out enough yet!

@Rich, referencing another thread, but can we get discounted Garmins (ex, 610) via this wheelbuilder arrangement too?
  • Joe, what Scott said.

Scott, yes, but to the honest the margins on Garmin's are so thin that I'm on not able to get much of a discount at all so better off to just go with what you find on the net. I'm able to offer a little better discount when combined with a PM purchase because I can spread the margins a bit. But a GPS by itself...web prices are crazy low, like dealer cost many times.
