Rev3 or Mooseman?
I will be doing IMLP in July, so was going to do a 70.3 the week before the IM USA camp the second week of June. I'm torn, however. Trying to decide between Rev3 or Mooseman that first weekend in June.
Haven't done either of these races yet, and would love some input. I will say, I'm leaning toward Mooseman because Timberman is my favorite 70.3. But...I've never participated in a Rev3 event, so I know little of that race experience.
Any and all advice would be most appreciated.

1) water is STUPID-cold!!! Last time I did it (just the Oly), the water was 55 degrees, and I couldn't bring myself to even dip a toe in the water, despite a huge delay at the swim start. The shock of the cold really never wore off.
2) the bike course includes a ridiculous-steep hill, which you get the privilege of riding twice. I've done it on a training ride, and have absolutely zero desire to see how slow I'd be going at HIM goal watts. True test of execution. Two years ago, I put the course map of Mooseman against the course map of IMLP (both to the same scale), and the Mooseman course is so much steeper. If it had been more similar, I might have said to do it to get ready for placid, but I think it's just the kind of course that's difficult not to destroy yourself on.
Those two factors plus all of the good things I've heard about the Rev3 races would lead me to pick Quassy.
While I have enjoyed the race for two years running (HIM - it was my first HIM) but ....I would give a +1 to what Mike said...I love the venue..but the water temps can be ridiculous...and the bike course is bearish (I have had many people better than I say it is tougher than IMLP course)...I'm skipping it this year (Prepping for Louisville IM) and doing RI 70.3 again in July (cuz Eagleman is sold out...though I am waitlisted)....
Not suggesting definitely skip it...but saying understand the course challenges and how it might fit your plan, goals, and expectation.
Just IMO.
