Pacing a 15k Bike TT...
So last year I rode in the annual Team Psycho TT and somehow (computrainer error?) ended up only second to Olympic hopefully Ethan Brown, putting up an average of 362 watts across the test. My PM said it was more like 345, but I am not arguing.
Of course, there are a few folks who think it was a fluke, and are taking me on this year. Bring it!
So I have figured my FTP to be about 335, and I just did 2 x 20 as 335, 340. I am planning on doing a test 20' this weekend, and I am curious to hear what you smartypants folks think I can sustain.
If I can do 340 in a second 20' effort (it wasn't easy), can I sit on 350 for one? 360?
Anyone have a calculator for this? Thanks!!!

Coach: Start @ 340 for a minute, get to 360 by the third minute, and aim to finish at 370+. Your NP for this should be 365 IMO FWIW.
Seems like you've gotten some good advice coach. 360-365 and embrace the pain!
So I would assume that Coach P should be able to achive Al's estimate of 365 (at least).
In any case Coach, enjoy
+1 what trent said.
Yesterday I read and listen through this thread, i remembered line of "The Matrix" .. "Do you really think this is air your breathing?"... That line helped me a lot today on getting through my workout.
Pacing .... most records were achieved by negative splitting 49/51
The bigger question is, are you optimally fit on the bike right now for a 15km TT, or are you setup for a 112 mile ride?
At those types of wattages (and thus speeds), I would guess you could cut 15-20 watts and finish faster if you tweaked your position for a short-course TT, unless you've already done so.
Should we assume a skin suit, shoe covers, no bottle cages, etc. are in play here?
Crush some souls, Coach!

Awesome, Coach!!
