Northern Virginia area bike fit

As a proud owner of a new tri-bike that's been sitting in my basement for about 3 months now (while I push the OS on my road bike, no judgements on that please), I'm looking to get a professional bike fit in prep for the road.  I've got two places in mind (based on internet searches), but would welcome any recommendations/experiences from those in the know.

The two places I am currently looking at are SportFit Lab in Herdon, VA and Revolution Cycles (RETUL) in Alexandria.  Both are similiarly priced.  Anyone have any experience with either of these two shops/fitters?

If there are other recommendations, I'm looking for something close to the greater D.C. area.

Any and all input welcome.  Thanks!

  • I don't have a recommendation for your area, but I will say that my husband and I both had RETUL fittings and were really happy with the results. It's pretty cool how the whole thing works. Good Luck!
  • Let me know what you decide, Roy - - cause I'm planning to do the same at either of those locations. Thanks!
  • TTbikefit

I think EN still gets discount there.  Check out the website and how he does his fits.  I did the video fit 2 years ago and have been happy.  Fitted with FIST in the past but was never comfortable.  Will probably tweek my fit later this year and will use TTBIKE again.  Good luck!

  • +1 on the TTBikefit from Todd Kenyon. I have been super satisfied and have found a position comfortable enough for IM that also allowed me to set a track record at 10 miles for my AG in North Carolina. Aero AND comfortable! Best I've ever had.

  • I had my Retul fitting at The Bike Doctor in Arnold MD. Not too far anyway ;-)
  • @Joseph, scheduled for March 13th at Revolution Cycles for a Retul fit. Will let you know how it works out.
  • Thanks Roy - Good luck! Hope it works out well.
  • @Roy, How did the Retul fit @ Revolution Cycles go?
  • The fit got rescheduled for yesterday (15th). Bottom line: Very happy with the fit and the experience with the fitter. The fitter (Steve, an athlete himself as well as a trained/employed physical therapist) took my bike from the "out of the shop" delivery setup to a good fit within the Retul parameters with one recommendation for a stem change. Also a positive note that Steve was not a shop employee and recommended the stem change based on what the Retul system said I needed vice what the shop had in stock. Steve and I spent about 2.5 hours working through the fit, he explained what he was doing and why (i.e. showed me the numbers based on each rep and defined what the desired "good" parameters were), as well as incorporating my feedback in relation to what the system reported.

Early in the session, I felt good about the experience when Steve identified two slight existing structural issues I have during the initial off-bike assessment that I did not mention. At the end of the day, I feel I got good value for my money. Will update after I've had time to replace the stem and actually ride for a few weeks.
