Oct OS: Week of 30 Jan (Wk #18)

Not sure who is out there anymore, so I'm just starting one thread for all. This week's podacast is concerning season planning and the "big idea" is transition after the OS.

Hope everyone is hanging tough. After this week, as I remember it starts to taper off for the final tests in week #20. Hang tough and don't get injured trying to cram extra fitness now!

  • Hey! After a terrible Sunday night's sleep, I got in almost 8hrs last night and am back.

Today's wko was just like the last three weeks at 8'(2'), 10'(2'), 12'(2') and (10'(2') all at Z4 followed by only a 15' run this time at Z2. Slow to get the AVHR up for the first - clearly in the zone for the second and for the third and fourth - I was going on HR alone as my speed dropped and I started to bump into the Z5. Guess the pain cave at 60 degrees with almost 100% humidity made the big difference. The run was way slow to keep it in Z2.

Looking forward to ending this trainer business and getting out on the roads!

@Lynne - saw Ottawa Sunday during the NHL All-Stars! Plenty of snow, so at least you won't get Spring Fever for a while!
  • Yikes! 64 degrees and 100% humidity this morning with heavy fog. I know planes fly better when it's like this because the air is denser and therefore you get better lift, but this body o'mine didn't like it so much.

4X.5(3') and 1mi (5') all at Z4 was hard. Target was 3:30 and 7:00 and I rolled in with 3:37, 3:30, 3:26, 3:24 and 6:56 and hit a MHR of 184 on the last mile.

Not the best - but certainly a good workout. Hope everyone is hanging tough and coming up with transition plans. We got one going to Cozumel!
  • @Lynne - good work ethic! If you skipped the run part of today's wko, you probably won't be any worse for wear after three straight days!

Today felt like February again with a nice cool front and got in the 6 X 2.5' (2.5') @ Z5. The first three I hit my mph target and not the target AVHR. On #4 and 5 - I went by AVHR and let the AVSPD drop. On #6 - I went for the AVSPD target and the AVHR was totally in the Z5. The run after was supposed to be 25' @ Z3. it ended up as a Z2 out and Z3 back for 26:24 with an AVHR right at the bottom of my Z3.

Overall - great workout! Now to just get through tomorrow and I can ease into the taper week!

  • @Lynne - had a couple of days like that and today was kinda like that. I think it is interesting that this thread has just been me and you and there have been 56 hits. Hmn - looks like we got some peeps checking in so I hope they are all doing well.

Today my wko was 3 X 1mile. It was 45 degrees, a 7mph wind and some drizzle. The warm up was slow and I thought, "work is work, just get it done". My target mile time was 7:00 and my times were 7:19, 6:56, and then 6:45. A 2mile cool down with some strides for a total of 7.25miles. Like you Lynne - glad I didn't just call it quits!
