Polar Power Meter - CS500

I purchased a Polar Power Meter - CS500 last year and have it installed on my bike. However when riding along indoors at a steady tempo the power bounces all over the place from 160, 150, 140, 130, then back to 160.

Anyone else have this problem and/or corrected it?

Any Help would be much appreciated

  • I'm not familiar with your exact model, however, are you showing "real time" watts? If so, if your model allows you to show a 3 or 5 second average power, that would smooth this to a more acceptable level. I ride with 3 second smoothing.
  • 130-160 doesn't sound like a very big range for real time watts. I bounce around like that on my powertap, just due to small variations in my focus. See if you can pay attention to the pressure on your cleats, and the way you're engaging your muscles, and see if you can't stabilize it. I'd guess it might be OK.
