Garmin 410 troubles. HRM is spotty.
Hi all,
I'm getting super frustrated with my Garmin 410. The HRM has become spotty and every second or third workout of the past few weeks I've been doomed to working off Perceived Exertion to hit my zones, only to have the HRM pick up during the last 4 mins of my final Z4 set. Argh!
Some of the trouble shooting says that wearing tech shirts can be an issue, and sometimes sports bras are an issue. I'm not going to drop a sports bra, and training in cotton is out of the question. I sweat alot, so it's damp from the 5th minute of a warm-up, so I'm not sure if that's having an impact on the HRM performance. I clean the strap after every workout, whether I think it needs it or not.
Has anyone else had difficulty when their 410? I am going to try to get some of the contct gel this weekend, hopefully that might help with sensor pick up.
I'm so frustrated, and sick of my husband thinking it's user error, whether he's joking or not. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks!
Nicole.

I have an FR60 and 310XT, if I had issues with the HR it was rather the belt/sensor than the watch.
But yes I agree i have more issues with the HR using my garmin than my polar.
What do you mean by spotty? On the run or the bike?
Can you share one or two links to of your activities in garmin connect?
Kai
Good question. The HR data is all over the place, that's what I mean by spotty. Another example, that I haven't uploaded yet is my Tuesday ride, where my HR went from 98 to 170 to 80 to 190 during my warm up. I don't work with power on the bike, so HR is what I use to manage my work.
Here is my run from last Sunday. Based on my pace and overall feeling, I was hitting my zones.

And here is a bike from two weeks ago.

Not sure if you can access the links as they are?
Nicole.
Nicole,
what Jeff said, if you have still the original strap,
get a new one (I recommend to take a polar) and replace the batterie in the HR Sensor.
Further hints are find at DCRainmaker.
