  • I have been looking at the 910 since my 205 is hanging on by its last leg.

Question...if I am going to buy a power meter this coming fall time frame, do you recommend the cadence sensor or will that be obsolete when I buy the PM? I have a basic bike computer now for speed and distance, but not cadence.

    Thanks!!
  • Annie,

In my experience, the virtual cadence of the Powertap (that is, it derives cadence from the pulsing of power as you pedal the bike) is good enough and avoids the clutter and possible friction of having another sensor on your bike and getting it to talk to the device.

  • Thanks Coach Rich!!

    Re: Cadence

Against my better judgement I'm going to go against Coach Rich on this one, only because I have actual data, n=1 data, but data none the less.

  • +1 Cary. I'm another data point: Unless I spent 2+ months averaging 120 rpms with spikes up to 200+, I think my powertap doesn't give solid data either. I bought a cadence sensor and haven't had any strange results since then.
  • Cary and Roy: noted, thanks! Mine and others I've seen seem to be good enough. And of course, my primary concern is to keep my bike looking as pro as possible, without any doodads attached to it
